Why VA Notebook Was Created

Starting an online career can feel overwhelming. There are countless tools to learn, unfamiliar job titles to understand, and employers looking for different combinations of skills. Even experienced virtual assistants must continually adapt as technology, client expectations, and digital workflows evolve.

VA Notebook was created to make that journey less confusing.

Think of it as a growing collection of useful notes from someone who has experienced the challenges, changes, and opportunities of working online. The goal is to share practical information that helps you understand what clients need, identify skills worth developing, and approach your work with greater confidence and professionalism.

The Experience Behind the Notebook

I’m Menchie, the person behind VA Notebook.

Before becoming a virtual assistant, I worked in healthcare as a respiratory therapist and eventually became a department supervisor. When I decided to pursue an online career, I entered an unfamiliar industry with limited knowledge of the opportunities available to remote professionals.

My first online role was in lead generation. As the needs of the business changed, I learned WordPress, SEO, digital marketing, customer support, website management, and many of the administrative responsibilities now commonly handled by virtual assistants.

Over the years, I have supported international clients, managed content across more than 100 websites, published and optimized thousands of pages, posts, and products, provided technical and customer support, coordinated with creative and development teams, and helped train and manage other virtual assistants.

That experience taught me an important lesson: a successful virtual assistant does not need to know everything at the beginning. What matters is the willingness to learn, solve problems, communicate clearly, and continue becoming more useful to the people and businesses you support.
